Class Description:
This theatre course is designed as an introduction to the world of theatre. You will gain an understanding of various aspects of theatre. We will focus on creating, performing, responding, and connecting theatre through envisioning, conceptualizing, developing, rehearsing, selecting, preparing, sharing/presenting, reflecting, interpreting, evaluating, empathizing, interrelating, and researching. By the end of the class students should be able to do the following:

1. Generate and conceptualize, organize and develop, refine and complete artistic ideas and work
2. Select, analyze, and interpret artistic work for presentation
3. Develop and refine artistic techniques and work for presentation
4. Convey meaning through the presentation of artistic work
5. Perceive, analyze, and interpret intent and meaning in artistic work
6. Apply criteria to evaluate artistic work
7. Synthesize and relate knowledge and personal experiences to make art
8. Relate artistic ides and works with societal, cultural, and historical context to deepen understanding

This course will be divided into 4 units including: Theatre Basics, Theatre History, Voice/Movement, and Performing
Technical Theatre Class Description
Technical Theatre Class Description
This theatre course is designed as an introduction to theatre production. Students will work the majority of the time with a specialty area of choice in dramatic production. Each student in class will work a SHS show as part of a grade.

Design and produce environments utilizing elements of technical theatre.
- Know the duties of the production staff.
- Know the different types of stages and basics of theatre architecture.
- Know the basic properties of and investigate the integral relationships and
effects of scenery, props, lights, sound, costumes, and makeup to a production.
- Acquire and employ a vocabulary of technical theatre terms.

Some things students can expect to do/learn are (subject to change based on time):
• Theater Basics
• Stagecraft
• Work back stage for the current SHS theatre production as a show production staff member in a specific field (publicity, props, lighting, sound, costumes, make-up, grip/stage hand, etc...) (great for resumes for ANY job)
